Windsor Warriors Basketball Club finish with a flourish !!

To top this off, Windsor Warriors have also just secured a coveted £7,000 grant from Sport England to set up a Basketball Academy for the local community.

The exciting, new Sport England programme will be launched in the run up to London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. At this day event, there will be a chance for everyone to try the Olympic & Paralympic sports of basketball and wheelchair basketball. There will also be the 3×3 “Streetball” tournament to find the Berkshire “Kings and Queens of the Court “.

Building on their success with the adult teams, Windsor Warrior coaches will be starting the Basketball Academy at Desborough School in Maidenhead in the Autumn. The Academy will be offering professional coaching and fun events to adults and pupils in both primary and secondary schools.

Mark Budge, brain child of the programme and long time player for the Warriors said, “We are really excited about helping more people in the community try out both basketball and wheelchair basketball, as well as bringing back more experienced players who have not “run out” for a while
